LOCAL OBSERVATIONS 2006 - September

Thursday 28th September 2006

September was a very poor herping month, however I still did observe many specimens, but a lot less then in other months, and so most of the time the species fled before getting and good photos, toady I found a few lizards including a Western green lizard, Ocellated lizard and a Viperine snake all without photos, but here is a photo of Mantis religiosa, one of three caught:

Friday 1st September 2006

Today was a non-herp day, which turned into one. I was at the river with my girl friend when I spotted some metamorphosed Pelophylax sp. I recon perezi, these are two different ones:

And then a very strange observation for a river, Malpolon monspessulanus, I firstly thought it was a vivid Viperine snake:
