Serpentes (Squamata)

This is a division of reptiles, they are characterised by their long bodies that lack legs and eye lids. Snakes are renowned to eat without chewing, 'eat whole' this is very true. Snakes can be identified by colour, pattern and size, but sometimes need a more closer look. A certain way of identifying a snake is by it's head scales, they are arranged differently according to the species.

This is the other division in reptiles. They are characterised by their limbs (in contrast to ophidia) and usually very long tails. They also in contrast to snakes have eye lids. There are many varieties of lizards covering many interesting looks and colours.

Chelonii

This is another division in reptiles. They are characterised by their carapace in which they can hide, this is very important part of their protection. Within this group of reptiles there are the aquatic type (terrapins) and the and type (tortoise). As the species that are considered 'water loving' of this family, what is not included in the species list are the sea turtles, this is because little is known about these creatures and they cannot be found easily and they do migrate a lot.
