Corsica

Corsica is the most unique herpetological area of France with some species only found on corsica either from France's point of view or a global point of view.

Viperine snake (Natrix maura)

Key feature: zig zag dorsal pattern

Note: 2 observations suggest it's presence in Corsica (Fons & al. 1991), but in both cases, it is certain that the specimens were either imported by accident from Sardinia or escaped captivity. For this reason this species is not considered as part of the Corsican fauna since no other observations since have been made.
